About

THE MISSION

We here at Trash Goblin Express know the unique struggle that is getting your novel through the editing process. It doesn't need to be a headache, though. You put the words on the page; we polish so your voice shines through. Our goal is to teach as we edit, and our hope is to see your writing improve with each new project.

THE EDITOR

The editor at Trash Goblin Express may ironically use the royal 'we', but 'we' is me. I'm a GQ member of the alphabet mafia, sporting over a decade of experience in editing. Traditionally trained with a BFA in English lit, I bring the stuffy know-how and blend it with the fluffier side of 'anyhow'. By knowledge and ADHD combined, I am Van D Vicious.

Disclaimer: Though I am neurodiverse and queer, I am culturally mayonnaise to the Nth degree. I do my best to keep abreast of emerging information around BIPOC, disabled, and/or neurodiverse creatives and their struggles, editing with sensitivity in mind on all fronts, but I may not be the best fit for your book depending on the subject matter.

THE PROCESS

Every editor has a niche and Trash Goblin Express is no exception. We excel beneath the SFF umbrella, though we do take other genres depending on our level of familiarity. We also pride ourselves on working with first-timers and the burnt authors who paired with the wrong editor out of the gate. To make sure you aren't burnt again, we offer samples of 3000 words free of charge, as well as manuscript assessments for an affordable rate. This is for us as much as you. Communication styles vary, and we want to make sure those mesh; nobody wants a cement mixer relationship with their editor, after all.

What we offer: comprehensive editing services geared to take you from concept development through structural overhaul all the way to lines and even jacket copy in a pinch.

What you can expect: quality editing, open communication through all stages of the editing process, and follow-up discussion as needed...all for an affordable rate.
